ULRA Late models come to Salina Saturday
Breaking news to share with everyone from the staff at the Salina Highbanks Speedway. This Saturday night will see the Missouri based United Late Model Racing Association (ULRA) bring their ground pounding late models to the Highbanks. The series was formed over the off season by veteran late model wheelman Jesse Stovall. The ULRA event will pay a cool $3,000 to the winner and $400 to start the main event with streaming service provider RaceOn.com adding a $2,000 bonus. Stovall and company are excited to make the Highbanks ULRA's first ever Oklahoma tour stop and fans can expect to see some serious speed this weekend and we mean some serious speed!
Bobber the safety dog will be at the races this weekend and he will be with the local chapter of the Corps of Engineers. A 'Goodie Table' will be set up and fans can get some free goodies supplied by the Corps of Engineers. We look forward to having them with us. Everyone young and old are encouraged to get a photo with Bobber and post your photos all over social media to show all your family and friends what a great time you are having at the Salina Highbanks!
As for other racing action on the program, your regular track classes are back for some more fender - fender, door banging, spark flying and dirt spraying action. The exception is the super stock class which will have the weekend off. Here are your regular classes participating:
Servpro of Mayes & Wagoner Counties B-Mods - Through 5 point shows it has been a 2 horse race with Justin Shoemaker taking three victories and Mitch Keeter two. Will a third victor rise this weekend?
AmeriFlex Hose Factory Stocks - 3 winners it is as Randy Frailey & Dale Richardson each have dual trophies with Brandon Jarvis taking checkers once.
S&J Plumbing Pure Stocks - A very competitive division for sure with Richard Jarvis, Cole Holman, Christopher Patterson, Charles Bumgarner and Jacoby Frailey all polishing hardware on their respective mantles. The only class without a repeat winner yet.
Colvin Aircraft Front Wheel Drive Trophy Cars - Saturday will be the top of the 6th inning and the score is: William Avila-4 and Duke Jarvis-1.
Colvin Aircraft Rear Wheel Drive Trophy Cars - Joe Hoover came out swinging first then Anthony Smith went back - back followed by Joshua Deason and Chad West.
Scribble notes:
The rained out event of Joe Duvall's Funkadelic Dirt Track & Honky Tonk Extravaganza featuring the USRA Heartland Modified Series along with the USRA American Racer Modified Series has been rescheduled to July 19th. Make a note as a bazillion modifieds were set to tackle the banks last weekend till the washout.
The annual Freedom Classic event returns with the ULRA late models on June 28th. Oh wait, there's more of these speed burners as URLA will also be at the Highbanks a month later on July 26th. If you are a huge late model fan, the Highbanks has got your fix for 2025.
For you sprint car fans, put a post-it note on that refrigerator for July 12th. The AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories Oil Capital Racing Series (OCRS) sprint cars will hit the banks for their one and only stop in 2025. In addition, this will be the last sprint car event on the Highbanks for 2025 so catch it while you can!
So jot it down folks....... ULRA LATE MODELS THIS SATURDAY AT THE SALINA HIGHBANKS SPEEDWAY!
