Joe Duvall's Funkadelic Dirt Track & Honky Tonk Extravaganza this Weekend

Grain Valley, MO (July 16, 2025) - With persistent rain showers putting a damper on the program in May, it’s “take two” for Joe Duvall’s Funkadelic Dirt Track and Honky Tonk Extravaganza pitting ARMS vs HMT drivers against each other battling for USRA modified glory. The weekend promises no shortage of story lines as teams descend on northeastern Oklahoma for the weekend double header.

Friday night’s stop at the Arrowhead Speedway has been a barn burner each of the last two seasons, with Muskogee’s Chad Wheeler claiming the checkers both times. With Wheeler coming up aces each of the last two years, it’s a race that has likely left Fayetteville’s Tyler Wolff with a sense of “what if” after a pair of close runner-up finishes to car 88. "This race has been absolutely fantastic each of the last two seasons. I can't wait to see what this year brings and I think it will pair nicely with what we have been doing for the modifieds here at Arrowhead all season long so far." said Arrowhead Speedway owner Willie Gammill.

On Saturday, the carnival travels 40 minutes northwest to the Salina, OK for a date with the highbanks. Two years ago, Wheeler nearly pulled off the northeaster Oklahoma sweep before a broken ball joint saw his night end on the back of a tow truck, then a late race battle between Tyler Davis and Joe Duvall saw Davis come out on top. Last year Duvall found redemption picking up the win and showing off his race’s namesake belt buckle in victory lane.

This is the 7th anniversary of the Funkadelic events put on by Duvall. Having been contested at multiple different racetracks over the years, the event seems to have found a niche at both Arrowhead and Salina in the last couple of seasons. Earlier this year he told us promoting both events is a labor of love. He ties his name to the event and drums up the support, working with close contacts developed from over forty years of racing. While his financial gain is zero, the motivation is merely the love of racing and successful events, that drive him to continue pushing forward.

“We’ve been doing these shows for several years now and they’ve become a lot of fun,” said Duvall. “I get a ton of support locally and bring everybody together for a fun weekend. I appreciate Arrowhead and Salina for working with us on the rescheduled dates and taking these shows on. As promised earlier this year, we’ve got a lot in store for the racers and fans this weekend!”
