SALUTE TO THE VETERANS NIGHT!

This past Saturday night is one of my favorite nights of racing we have all year! Over 160 Veterans and Active Military men and women stood as Drivers took to the track carrying the flags of our Armed Forces and as war birds from the past flew in formation over head, we paid tribute to those who have served and those who gave it all for this great country we call home! Its always and honor to plan this event and see it all unfold!

We had a busy night of racing planned as well. Due to the four weeks of rain outs classes were add to the nights events for drivers to make up valuable national points as we come into the last four weeks of Whelen All-American Series points racing. USMTS, OCRS and three of our weekly classes boasted a record car count of 162 cars for the speedway since it was reopened in 2011.

The Pure Stock Division sees a repeat of last week with the same one,two finish of Nathan Campbell and Brennon Lacy. Nathan took the top spot making it back to back wins. Both of these Boys are cutting in the the national points lead of Kevin Lacy as the weeks wind down to close out the season. Nathan and Brennon both will jump into the top five after the points are updated. Its entirely possible for Salina to have a One-Two-Three finish by seasons end.

Kyle Davis wins the Grand National Division this week after just coming up short in the previous weeks races but both points night will have him sitting third when the National Points come out this Thursday. Kyle had fallen back to tenth but with two weeks of great finishes he has really fought his way back to the top. For anyone who has chased points we all know how nerve-racking a points battle can be and not to make it any harder, he actually has a shot at capturing the division III title if things work out! We all know he is capable as a nine time feature winner this year!

The B Modified Class had Chance Bishop back this week in his first visit back to the speedway since May. Bishop puts his Hatfield powered B Mod in Victory Lane for the fourth time this season. I spoke with Chance earlier in the night and he had said that they had just got the motor back and in the car and hadn't raced the since the motor let loose back in May. We are glad to have him back. Chris Hawkins still leads national points for division II but said he would like a little more cushion as the season comes to a close so you might look for him making his way back to the checkered in the next few weeks!

USMTS and OCRS results are posted in their news stories.
