Salina Highbanks Speedway
Summer Kickoff at the Highbanks Saturday Night
It's now the month of June and that means summer for most of us and the Salina Highbanks Speedway is kicking off the unofficial start of the 2025 summer season with the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts weekly racing series this Saturday night with all your favorite NASCAR sanctioned classes scheduled to be in action. Looking back to last weekend, we find these are the drivers with victory accolades in their respective classes:
Servpro of Mayes & Wagoner Counties B-Mods (Mitch Keeter), Dawson Roofing Super Stocks (OFF), AmeriFlex Hose Factory Stocks (Jeran Frailey), S&J Plumbing Pure Stocks (Jacoby Frailey), Colvin Aircraft Front Wheel Drive Trophy Cars (Anthony Smith) and the Colvin Aircraft Rear Wheel Drive Trophy Cars (William Avila) took checkers.
When you come out to the races, come hungry as the speedway has you covered on food options. Everything from hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken, frito pie, nachos and fries are available at the north end of the concourse (near the mail gates). Typical sporting event grub right? Oh wait, there's more. On the south end of the concourse, in addition to some of the items mentioned, there is also bologna and pulled pork sandwiches to be had. Just to the north of that, there is a lemonade stand with kettle corn. From all accounts of what we see, that lemonade stand seems to be a favorite among our guests.
Want a more well rounded meal? On the upper level of the facility is the Finish Line Restaurant and what a selection you have there as you can get the following dinner options: Ribeye steaks, KC strip steaks, pasta dishes, salmon dinner, catfish dinner, peppercorn chicken and more! There are also traditional hamburger meals and a list of appetizers that will have you struggling to decide what to get. For you adult beverage drinkers, mixed drinks are available as well as beer. Not hungry till later in the night? No problem as the restaurant kitchen is open up to one hour after the final checkered flag of the night. So come ready to eat then come on up and get ready to experience what very few racetracks in the nation can offer!
Scribble Notes:
Slew of Cars - With the exception of the $100,000 to win XR Dominator modified special back in March that produced 66 modifieds as the only class racing that night, the average number of cars in the pits per event for 2025 thus far is 105.5 cars. That's a lot of cars week in and week out and as often is the case, the final checkered flag is flying in a window of 10:30p - 11:00p. Now that's efficiency!
On Deck - June 14th is Edward Jones Investment night and there will be a toy toss for the kids at intermission. Then on June 21st, is the 'Highbanks Memorial' where we honor those who have been a part of the Salina Highbanks family that are no longer with us today. We finish out the month of June on the 28th with the ULRA late models rolling into town for the annual Freedom Classic.
Location Location Location - Reading this and haven't been to the Salina Highbanks Speedway before? Wondering where we are? The speedway is so easy to find that a blindfolded squirrel could find us. The racetrack sits directly on Highway 20 between the towns of Pryor and Salina. The facility stands out so much from the highway you just can't miss us. Parking is always free and there is a shuttle service that you can take advantage of getting from the parking lot to the main gates. Come see us!
Nylon Seat Options - While there is seating for nearly 5,000 people in the grandstands, race fans may bring in their own lawn chairs. Come early however as several do choose to do this and space is somewhat limited for lawn chairs that those spots can go quickly at times. We are still waiting to see someone bring that first bean bag through the gates. Maybe on a 70's night promotion one day?
Can You Believe It? - The month of June also is the midway point in the 2025 racing season. It seems like the season just started and here we are approaching the halfway mark in a couple of weeks. The one thing that is always faster than a racecar..... Time
See ya Saturday night for some exciting racing action!
